CHERRYLICIOUS
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 oz. Gin
1/4 oz. Martini Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz. Luxardo Sangue Morlacco
1/2 oz. Thyme and Vanilla Syrup
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
GARNISH: Maraschino Cherries
PREPARATION:
As you add all the ingredients for this cocktail into your shaker it’s like you are creating a true Italian masterpiece. The Gin with the juniper berries is reminiscent of the rolling hills of Tuscany …The Vermouth is from the Piedmont areas, The Sangue Morlacco liqueur is made from the delicious marasca cherry only from just from Luxardo Padova… if Gabriele d’Annunzio could taste this he would be sure to call it a liquid poetry!
Now back to making our drink! Place all the ingredients into the shaker and shake for 5 fast seconds. Now strain and pour, or double strain and pour, depending on how much fresh pulp you like. I suggest straining this into a chilled glass on the rocks. As you can see in my picture I used an ice sphere which not only keeps the drink colder for longer but it also will not melt as fast as regular ice cubes.
The color is deep burgundy red, similar in appearance to a Pinot Noir. The scent is a mixture of the refreshing notes of the lemon and thyme. The taste is well balanced with the sweetness of the Sangue Morlacco countering well with the acidity of the fresh juices… and as D`annunzio will say….
