BACON MAPLE MARTINI

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 oz. Bacon Infused Whiskey

1 scoop of Caramel Ice Cream

1/2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps

1/2 oz. Baileys Irish cream

Apple Wood Chips

GARNISH:

Caramelized Bacon Strip/Bacon Rim

Maple Syrup

CARAMELIZED BACON STRIP:

1 lb. thick-cut bacon, hickory or maple-smoked
1/4 – 1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup Vodka

Cayenne pepper to taste

1. Remove the bacon from the package and separate into strips. Lay each strip in a shallow baking dish or bowl. Add enough Vodka so that all the bacon is in the liquid. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 6-8 hours.

2. Preheat oven to 400 F. Remove bacon from fridge and discard alcohol. Pat each piece of bacon dry using a dishrag or paper towels. Rub brown sugar lightly onto both sides of each piece of bacon, and lay pieces in a large casserole dish or rimmed baking sheet. Sprinkle cayenne pepper over each piece.

3. Bake for 10-15 minutes, checking frequently so the bacon doesn’t burn, and cook until done. Allow to cool until the bacon can be picked up with your fingers. While the bacon is still pliable, thread onto skewers. Set each skewer on a plate until it is fully cooled. Serve and enjoy!

PREPARATION:

I am about to give you a recipe for a cocktail that requires a smoker… that’s a first! Take some apple wood chips and place them into your smoker and then take a bottle (that has a lid) or a wine decanter and start filling that up with the smoke. Once it’s full, cover or cap it, set aside and let’s start making our drink.

Add all the ingredients as per recipe into a shaker with ice and shake it for 5 fast seconds. Now instead of pouring it into your glass, first pour it into the bottle full of smoke and swirl that for 15-20 seconds. Let it sit and absorb the smokiness while you are rimming your glass with maple syrup and some of your crushed caramelized bacon …

Now that your glass is ready you can slowly strain and pour your smoky concoction into it and garnish with a Caramelized Bacon Strip just like in the picture.

The color is off white and creamy like French Vanilla gelato. The scent is a playful mix of delicious bacon mingling with maple goodness.  The taste is sweet and savory… the saltiness of the bacon rim kicks up the sweetness of the caramel and butterscotch and maple syrup making each sip uniquely delicious.

This drink is dedicated to all my friends from the south …where it is pretty much impossible to get away from Bacon and a Good Whisky …..I just found a new reason for you to have them together!
