KARMA MANDARIN TIGER
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 oz. Karma Silver Tequila
1/2 oz. Saké
1/2 oz. Mandarin Juice
3/4 oz. Ginger Syrup
HOMEMADE GINGER SYRUP:
16 oz. Water
1-2 Ginger Root (diced)
1 lb. Sugar
2 Oranges, Zested
PREPARATION:
A key ingredient to this delicious cocktail and ANY cocktails that feature fruit juices and syrups is to make your own. This cocktail will taste the best if you use fresh squeezed Mandarin juice and homemade Ginger syrup… how, you ask? Read below!
GINGER SYRUP
Boil water with the diced ginger root and orange zest for 25 minutes. Next pour it into a blender and gently blend until it becomes pureed and then strain with a cheese cloth. Pour it back onto the stove and add the sugar and then bring it to a boil. Make sure to stir while adding the sugar in to avoid it becoming cloudy. Once all the sugar has dissolved, remove it from the heat and let it cool down before using it!
Now.. I hope you do not need instructions on how to juice mandarins because if you do this maybe the wrong website for you.
Now that we have prepped we are ready to make our featured cocktail! Place all ingredients in a mixing glass and shake vigorously with ice for 5 fast seconds. Since we have a nice, fresh pulpy juice as an ingredient we will need to strain it into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a nice orange peel twist.
This drink can be double strained if you would like.. but my personal preference when I use fresh juices is to not double strain them because I like to show off the fact that I’m using fresh-fresh-FRESH INGREDIENTS!
The color is bright orange, really sexy! The scent is citrusy and sweet with some zesty notes of ginger. The taste is refreshing… this drink is definitely a taste buds tingle sure to make every summer night a perfect one!
